For more than 15 years, Sarah Gonzalez has been stirring pots of golden toffee for family, friends, and anyone lucky enough to be nearby when a batch cooled on the counter. Sarah’s journey has not been easy. She has faced cancer twice and, during the pandemic, survived a stroke that left half of her body paralyzed, suddenly making even simple movements feel impossible. Through surgeries, rehab, and countless determined steps, her strong will carried her forward as she slowly worked to regain her mobility and her place at the stove.

From recovery to Mountain Toffee Co.

When Sarah could finally stand and stir again, the first thing she wanted to make was her toffee. What had always been a gift for loved ones became something more: a way to celebrate survival, savor simple joy, and share hope—one handcrafted batch at a time. With encouragement from those who had treasured her toffee for decades, she decided it was time to let the wider world in on the secret, and Mountain Toffee Co. was born.
